Auckland Dentist Reviews – Thompson Dental

Same day appointment quick fix for an urgent problem, and friendly staff who helped overcome language barrier. Plus, a truly professional dentist. Highly recommended!

Great service

First appointment after moving dentists from previous practice. The front desk girls were lovely. Janet was truly amazing. Made me feel very comfortable. Went it into depth explaining what was required and the reasons why. Made it easy to understand. She has a great energy about her. And her experience in the industry is extensive. Looking forward to working with Janet on the work required. Highly recommend based on my first visit 😊

Had the pleasure of my first visit to Thompson Dental today. After years of disappointments causing build up of only anxiety I have found my new dentist. Professional accommodating and friendly, highly recommend to anyone

Great positive professional visit

I just organised a Mandible Advancement Splint for Sleep Apnea through Mike Thompson at Thompson Dental. The whole experience from start to finish was good. Very nice front desk staff and Mike was easy to relate to and deal with. I am very happy with my splint and highly recommend Thompson Dental.

Wonderful place and people, friendly, fast, efficient

My 6-year-old son needed an extraction and four fillings. Other clinics told us he would need a general anaesthetic, which made me really anxious as a mum.The team here was so kind, patient, and professional. They put on his favourite Pokémon on TV, gave him happy gas, and completed all the treatment in under 40 minutes—without needing a GA. We’re so grateful for the amazing care. Highly recommend!Thank you! DentistAmanda and Saph! And the friendly receptionist (annika & AL)

Such a warm welcome at reception! 😀 and Karen the hygenist was amazing, She is very friendly, thorough, gentle and explained the procedures to me at my first ever visit to the hygenist.

I recently had a cleaning appointment with Grace and had a really positive experience. She was warm, friendly, and made me feel comfortable. The clean was thorough, but she was very gentle and took the time to explain what she was doing and answer any questions I had. I also came away with some really useful tips for looking after my teeth. The team at Thompson Dental were welcoming and professional, and the clinic has a great atmosphere. I’d happily recommend them to anyone looking for a dental clinic in Mount Eden

My 5-year-old son had a toothache and was very scared of dental procedures. At another clinic, he was unable to go through with the treatment. However, Dr. Amanda made the whole experience much easier for him. She was very calm, patient, and gentle, and she managed to perform the extraction without making him feel too much pressure or anxiety. We are very grateful for her kindness and professionalism. Highly recommended for children!

Unreal service and a warm and caring team that truly cares about your health. I could not recommend this place anymore!

Who falls asleep while having multiple teeth filled at the dentist? Smooth, friendly, painless. Those daunting dentist visits are endangered with these guys around. And your cavities? - gone. Perfect work. Six stars

Results are what matters and I have seen several people taking pics and smiling showing off their new look - including myself.

Amanda - Dentist. She is amazing! I am not a fan of the dentist and she was very patient with me as I had a server issue with one of my tooth. Made me feel so much better!Jo - Receptionist. Went out of her way to help as I was in a lot of pain. Best service with this company that I have come across in a very long time. Putting patient needs first is key and this company did everything they could to help. The best!! Highly recommend 🥰🥰🥰🥰

Truly grateful for Dr Amanda and her team, who looked after my 8 year old who needed a molar extraction and 2 fillings. One of the worst things a parent experiences is their child's pain, but Dr Amanda truly looked after her with such empathy! The whole team is super friendly and welcoming :)

Can’t recommend the team at Thompson dental highly enough. I was apprehensive about my dental treatment, but Mike put me totally at ease. The process was easy and painless, and the result amazing! Only regret not doing it sooner.

I honestly can’t recommend Thompson Dental enough!!! I had an emergency toothache, and the whole team were AMAZING. Jo at reception was so welcoming and helpful. Mike did the initial assessment and gave expert, reassuring advice. Then Janet and her assistant Alice handled my root canal brilliantly.I hadn’t seen a dentist in years (pre-Covid!) and was extremely nervous, but Janet and Alice made it a surprisingly pleasant and painless experience! They created a calm, comfortable environment and were outstanding from start to finish. Janet explained everything clearly as she worked, showing obvious technical skill, and Alice was so lovely and friendly throughout. Janet, you are truly so amazing at what you do 💐💐 — you deserve all the flowers! The entire team at Thompson Dental really blew me away with their genuine manaaki for people, their incredible skill, and the warm, welcoming atmosphere they create; they make you feel like you’re truly looked after and cared for.Honestly, the best healthcare experience I’ve ever had, and I will definitely continue under their care (even joked that I’ll be bringing my future kids here one day!).Thank you for your mahi and heart, team. I’m so grateful for your care 🤍🤍🤍

Amazing and extremely satisfactory job by Karen. Highly recommended

I had a fantastic experience with Thompson Dental. I went in for enamel contouring to even out the ends of my teeth. It given me so much more confidence! Michael was very patient, kind and professional, and Jo was absolutely lovely to deal with. Thank you both!

I had a dental emergency on a Sunday and was lucky to find Tompson Dental. Dr. Michael took care of my broken teeth with incredible skill and care. From the moment I walked in, everyone at the clinic was kind and welcoming, which made me feel comfortable and relaxed even in a stressful situation. The equipment is top-notch, and the entire space feels modern and clean. Dr. Michael is clearly a highly qualified professional, and Joe is absolutely wonderful—warm, supportive, and genuinely caring. This has honestly been my best experience at a dental clinic. The team at Tompson Dental isn’t just professional they truly care about their patients as people.I absolutely recommend them to anyone in need of excellent dental care. They go above and beyond.

Thompson Dental is fantastic! Michael is skilled, friendly, and truly cares about his patients, making every visit comfortable. Karen, the hygienist, is thorough and kind—I also learned how to better care for my teeth between visits. The whole team is welcoming, professional, and dedicated to great care. Highly recommend!

Best dental centre I’ve ever visited. Good value for money too.

This is the best dental experience I have ever had - I am a very nervous patient but the dentist Michael made me feel totally comfortable and I didn’t even feel the injection and then watched the tv on the ceiling ! Everyone seemed to arrive and be warmly greeted in reception so I would think this is a very popular dentist and I feel fortunate to have found them .

I am very thankful to Thompson Dental for seeing me last minute today due to tooth pain. Dr Thompson is very patient and helpful, and I would go as far as saying that he is the best dentist I have ever had. Karen the hygienist is also wonderful, she is gentle and makes me feel at ease. I always recommend this practice to friends and family.

I really appreciate the excellent dental care I’ve received. The dentist has provided great treatment, and I feel confident in the care I’m getting. Thank you to the whole team for your suport and hard work.💕

WOW! Where to start.... As someone who was afraid of visiting my dentist, I am really glad I visited Thompson Dental. Michael made me feel so relaxed and the procedure went so smooth. Next I visited Karen the Hygienist who did an amazing job and explained everything I need to know about my teeth and how to look after them. I highly recommend Thompson Dental for their fantastic all round service!

Superb experience from the beginning to the end. Firstly I needed a mouth guard to stop night grinding & it made a huge difference. From that experience I felt confident to proceed with four front teeth veneers. I haven’t smiled so much in ages. I am grateful & would recommend Thompson Dental to anyone.

Today was my second trip to Thompson Dental and from first contact with the lovely Jo (after hours), to having my emergency appointment and then follow up on the same day with Dr Michael Thompson, everything was outstanding (just like my first visit to this practice with the hygienist who was also great). Dr Thompson is the epitome of what I think an awesome dentist should be. Knowledgable, experienced, calm, polite, empathetic, need I say more? I am so glad that I chose Thompson Dental as my family dentist. Highly recommend. A+++.

I am so pleased I made the move to Thompson Dental. They are very professional, and knowledgeable. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a Dental clinic, prices are great too.

I'm on holiday and had failure of my root canal which lead to very painful toothache. I called Thompson's and they manage to give me a same day emergency appointment and gave me what I needed to ease the pain until I return home. Michael, the dentist, was very understanding and professional and the receptionists lovely. Would highly recommend.

I have Enoyed my visits to Thompson Dental for 10 years. Mike and the team are so cool, very Welcoming. Todays visit was the best...I watched a video on Trains,my Happy place, on the overhead tv.....Way to go Thompson Dental.... I have NO hesitation in encouraging you to go here for dental treatment.

I highly recommend this clinic. Staff is very welcoming and kind. Dr. Michael Thompson is a friendly gentle dentist .He examined and gave me a treatment plan . I am planning to go with the plan and visit more . Thank you so much team!

Came up from Christchurch and saw Dr Thompson. Was the best dentist experience I’ve ever had.

The best advice, service, down to earth, commitment giving you all the options that best suit your needs. fantastic service all round Cheers Mike, and all the staff @ Thompson Dental

Mike is the only dentist who is pain-free for me. He is friendly with expert skills Having found him years ago, I would not willingly go to another. He is the epitome of what I consider a Dentist should be.

Cannot fault Thompson Dental. Latest technology, calm, informative nature of all the team make for an excellent experience. Upfront and transparent on costs and plans. Thanks Team

The best dental professionals one could ask for. Being someone who used to be terrified of going to the Dentists, Thompson Dental has saved me from pains. Mike and Karen and everyone else are the best skilled and gentle practitioners. More than that, they are considerate too, always has the best interests of their patients at heart, treating us like family. My fear of dental treatments was gone ever since I visited them by recommendations from a friend. Can't appreciate enough of them, God bless.

Mike Thompson is quite simply the best dentist I have ever been to. My teeth were crowded and chipped, and Mike has put crowns in and done other magic to make them look straight again. Amazing tooth artistry! Mike is highly professional and I felt totally safe and comfortable at all times. I can’t recommend Mike highly enough, as well as Karen and Grace the excellent hygienists, and all the lovely staff at Thompson Dental.

The entire team is very warm, accommodating, caring and easy to deal with. Mike Thompson is a superb dentist. He is very, calm, patient, experienced and explains everything clearly. Thank you!

Very Very good service and kind people there. I love this place and it makes me not nervous to go to see the dental doctor. Dr Thomson is very considerable and professional. Jo Jo is a very kind and caring lady. They are all very good and nice. Will come again.

Our teenage son had a dental clean (post braces) last week. I can not recommend this practice more highly. I was so impressed with Jo who helped with the booking. Thank you so much

beautiful people. great service .

A very friendly, efficient and well run practice. Especially good with my 5 year old daughter. Highly recommend Amanda and team.

Very kind and professional team, would definitely come again!

Have been going to Thompson Dental since I was a kid but have only now thought to write a review! The team are honestly the best, so easy to communicate with (in terms of both response time and generally) and all the dental staff are super friendly, personable and do the job really well. Would highly recommend.

I'm not a big reviewer but Thompson Dental are wonderful. I was frantically calling every after hour dentist I could find on Google trying to make an urgent appointment, most didn't even call me back or couldn't help, but even though they had just closed they still took the time to give me a phone consultation and write me a prescription. They clearly genuinely care about their patients which can be hard to come by.

Dr Mike Thompson and all staff are really good. Highly recommended.

Wonderful Professional friendly care Mike is a great dentist has never once hurt me and the Hygienist today was Amazing what a clean I travel from Parnell Well worth the drive

I highly recommend Dr Mike Thompson who replaced all my amalgams absolutely pain free and meticulously cleaned my teeth when traveling in New Zealand. Mike is friendly, gentle and thorough, by far the best dentist I have ever been to (and I have been to many).

I wish everywhere had the level of service of Thompson Dental! After a glowing reference from a friend I went to see the team here who are all wonderful, super welcoming and friendly. Mike is lovely guy an excellent dentist, explains everything really clearly without any judgement. I’ve had some really bad experiences with other dental clinics that put me off going for a few years - after seeing the level of care and skill at Thompson Dental I wouldn’t go anywhere else. Highly recommended ☺️

They are very welcoming. Mike, Jo and Karen and the rest of the staff explain the processes thoroughly. I have been going there for approx 45 years and started with Philip Chong. Always enjoy my visits, as I know that they want me to have healthy teeth and mouth.

I don't post reviews as general rule but when I come across great service delivered so patiently, professionally and is such a kind and friendly manner I have no problem sharing my praise for these guys. Mike and his team are consummate professionals. Very skilled and knowledgeable and importantly for me they were calm and kind that eliminated any anxiety and meant my treatment was completely stress free. Special praise in the way they were so accommodating with me to find times that worked with my busy schedule. I can't thank them enough.

Quite honestly the best, through, honest and careful Hygienist and Dentists I have ever been too. My teeth have never felt more cleaner and between Michael and Sam the hygienist, I have never felt like my teeth have been in better hands. They have put me on a regime toward getting better dental health and I am very grateful.

Mike makes you so calm while he works his magic, highly recommended dentist practice

Great dentist. Friendly service. Caring and accomodating.

Mike Thompson is the most gentle, calm, kind and thoughtful dentist I've ever had, and I can't recommend him enough. He always communicates what he's doing during a procedure, checks to make sure that I'm doing ok, and is just a lovely guy! Thanks so much Mike and team.

Very grateful for an excellent service.

Such a caring and considerate professional. I'm such a scaredy cat and Mike is so calming. Even my kids rave about Mike at Thompson Dental.

I recently visited Sam the hygienist. I have seen Sam in the past, and if it weren’t for her, my teeth may not be in the great shape they are now. I credit Sam with helping me to over come periodontal tooth disease. Sam is through but gentle, honest but kind, and I will go and see her again. Thanks Sam and thanks Thompson Dental.

 Good service, good quality work

I recently visited Thompson Dental for some Botox with Michael. He made me feel very relaxed about the procedure which was fairly painless and over quickly. I am absolutely thrilled with the results and would highly recommend! I will be back for more!

I have been with Mike from Thompson Dental for many years. He is an excellent dentist and a very patient man. I usually come away with a smile on my face!

Probably the best dentist and dental hygienist I have been to! No pain, gave me back a great smile and healthy gums! Thank you Michael and Sam!

Mike worked some serious magic on my 10 yr old's broken front teeth - to the extent that photographic evidence is now required to show that they were ever broken. He did a great job of explaining clearly what he was doing throughout, and has a very calm and reassuring manner. Friendly clinic, the whole team goes the extra mile. Recommended.Edit

I went in for 4 fillings. I've been well treated, and the hygienist gave me very good tips on how to change my brushing habits. The price was fair.I absolutely recommend this dentist!

I came in for 4 fillings. I've been well treated. The hygienist also gave me amazing tips on how to change my brushing habits. It was fairly priced for a dentist in Auckland.
Highly recommended.

Grateful for Mike's honest assessment of my immediate cosmetic dental requirements and commitment to my long term dental health.

Honestly the best dental experience I've had - the hygienist and dentist were both excellent. They combined their services to give a proactive, educational experience designed to help you longer term rather than just fix an immediate problem and send you on your way. Highly recommended - I'll be coming back!

I went to see the hygienist and dentist today. A great experience.. And that is saying something for a person who usually is petrified of going to the dentist!! Firstly I had my teeth cleaned and scaled, I have very sensitive teeth and gums.. And I told this to the lady Sam, and so instead of using the electric gear she did mostly everything by hand. It didn't hurt and was the best experience I have had so far in terms if this. Then I went to see my dentist (new, whom I have been with for a year so far) Mike Thompson. He was also so gentle and I felt really safe in his presence and under the work he did. I used to be so scared of going to the dentist before I found him. I used to tense up and nearly be in tears with fear and pain (as I have problem teeth with fractures from clenching at night while I sleep, so have had lots of past work done in my back teeth!) it used to be that I needed something from minor to major every time I went to the dentist. The first couple of thine I went I had to get repair to my fillings etc. but since then I have had no work done in over a year! His work is long lasting, and quite painless the way he has administered local anaesthetic, he sort of gets it right into the nerve so there is literally no time to feel any pain. So I just want to say thanks to the team there, no waiting for hours for my appointment either, and over all 5 stars for their service. Thanks you.
